Talk Summary:
This one-hour seminar will provide an overview of the steps involved in planning a research project. We will begin with an overview of the hierarchy of research evidence and the methodological approaches to research. We will then systematically address key stages of project development, including development of the research question, choice of appropriate study design, participant identification, outcome measures, and ethical considerations. Finally, we will discuss the role and contribution of patient and public involvement and statisticians to the research project. The seminar will conclude with a Q&A session.
Audience:
This seminar is open to anyone with an interest in research and evidence-based practice. No prior research knowledge is required; it is suitable both for beginners and for those with previous research knowledge. Attendees will gain an understanding of the hierarchy of research evidence and of the basic steps involved in developing a proposal for a research project.
